Every year come Fall my taste buds seem to change and I wind up craving a whole slew of different foods than I did in the earlier summer months. While some of my favorite foods this month are average household shopping staples, I have made a few amazing finds that are a little out of the box and that I am completely obsessed with! Kombucha: Oh My God! How do I even describe my love affair with Kombucha! This all natural beverage loaded with powerful enzymes and probiotics have been doing […] Continue reading →
One of the biggest transitions for me when I first went gluten free was trying to break myself away from the staple American lunch item, “the sandwich”. It is fair to say that I may have shed a few tears over my loss of french baguettes, warm ciabatta rolls, and yummy spinach wraps…what can I say I loved myself a good sandwich. I did give it the good old gluten free try though and made many attempts at recreating some of my favorite sandwiches with various pre-made […] Continue reading →
Note: This post comes courtesy of my sisters creativity, gotta give credit where credit is due! Yesterday my sister came over to me with her newest concoction, like me she enjoys experimenting in the kitchen and has become quite the skilled smoothie master. I told her to start making her concoctions look a little more pretty so that I could put some of them up on the blog for your all to see. So yesterday before biting into her afternoon snack she told me that she had […] Continue reading →
On Mothers Day there are probably a million different places where you could bring your Mom for a full on sugar coma brunch, but why not try something different this year and start your Moms day off right with a delicious and healthy at home brunch. Maybe consumed after you treat her to a nice morning hot yoga workout at a local studio? I’m not a Mom but that sounds like a perfect morning to me, and I’m pretty sure my healthy and fit Mom would agree. I have compiled a bunch of […] Continue reading →
When Mike and I were in Bali one of their staple desert’s or it could also sometimes be seen at breakfast was Black Rice Pudding. Basically Black Rice Pudding is just black rice mixed with a little bit of coconut milk and coconut or palm sugar. Since we had been served black rice only in its sweet pudding form it never even occurred to me that you could make Black Rice as a substitution for the common White or Brown Rice. But why not? It also got me thinking that if Brown Rice was […] Continue reading →
I love Cinco de Mayo! I love Mexican food, Margaritas, and the exciting atmosphere that develops when the two are combined Mexican food is not exactly known for being super healthy but believe it or not it is possible! While I am keeping this recipe round-up to food only, have no fear I have an entirely Cinco de Mayo drink filled post coming your way shortly! Since I know not everyone who reads this is a vegetarian I have included a combination of meat, fish, and vegetarian options. Trying […] Continue reading →
I think by now everyone has heard of the Paleo Diet, it has been a very popular philosophy of diet and nutrition which I first heard about I have to admit when the whole Royal Wedding was happening last year Basically the Paleo philosophy is to eat good clean foods with ingredients you would find in the cave dweller days. Since the Paleo Diet is not a vegetarian/vegan diet I do not personally follow it, however a lot of the fundamental philosophies in the Paleo diet, such as eating […] Continue reading →
After visiting Stowe, Vermont and realizing that our plans for a hike were going to have to be put on hold, we immediately filled the rest of our afternoon with an abundance of fun stops! First up was the Cold Hollow Cider Mill which my sister was raving about so we obviously had to pop in for a visit. The Cider Mill had a ton of cider related things to try like a huge vat of ice-cold cider to take unlimited samples of, apple-cider cracker spreads, cider cooked hot dogs, and finally cider […] Continue reading →
I cannot believe how quickly April flew by! Between Easter, Yoga Training, and my Birthday the month seemed to start and end in the blink of an eye. Since today in May 1st I have decided to start a new series of posts on the first of every month that look back over the previous month and highlight ten of my favorite posts. This way if any of you were super busy, went on vacation, or are just really behind on your blog reading you can get a cliff notes version of the last month in one post. […] Continue reading →
I am literally obsessed with lettuce wraps right now. As someone who used to love wraps and now cannot eat them without getting miserably sick these bad boys are a perfect solution for me! They are cute and fun and delicious, not to mention super easy to make. I literally could eat them every single night and not get bored because you can constantly be switching up what goes inside. Ah the love affair continues…I really wish I had found these earlier and maybe I wouldn’t have […] Continue reading →
