I am on another lettuce wrap kick which actually is working out perfectly while I am participating in my Spring Clean Eating Challenge. This challenge basically means that for 30 days I am eliminating all dairy (except eggs) grains, legumes, vegetable oils, processed foods, and added sugar. I have to say that while I thought this challenge would be difficult it really hasn’t been at all and I have found myself to be really enjoying it. For last nights dinner we decided to go the Fish […] Continue reading →
Even though Spring and Summer have yet to really arrive here in the Northeast, I have been itching to break away from the packaged and canned products from the grocery store and get back to making things fresh like I do mostly all Spring and Summer long. When I got to thinking about one of my favorite Italian sauces, dips, or spreads…I am talking about you PESTO, I realized that this particular item is something which really can be made year round. I have an unbelievable love for farmers markets, so much so that I honestly think if I could find a way to live in a Farmers Market I would. (Note to Self: Buy a farm and host a daily market on it) Every Saturday there is an AWESOME Farmers Market in my area which I love to go to. I honestly look forward to it all week-long! Tip for making fun drinks healthier: When making fun celebratory drinks at home I always do two things. If a recipe calls for simple syrup (sugar), I replace the sugar with a little bit of agave nectar or truvia. Most of the time one of the two adds the perfect […] Continue reading →
While all of us I am sure would love to be able to buy absolutely everything organic and from the local farmers, for the majority of the population that just isn’t possible. For some people the cost of trying to feed a family on all organic foods is too expensive, or you may just not have great access to farmers markets or a grocery store that has good organic options. I understand that some people feel very strongly that you should be investing in the food you put in your bodies and […] Continue reading →
I’ve always been just a little bit of a tree hugger. And not in the super hippy I don’t wear a bra kind of way, but in the I really really love plants, trees, and flowers kind of way. Honestly, I don’t think there is anything that makes me happier than a big bouquet of flowers, hint hint boyfriend. But really, forget the jewelry I would rather get a big bouquet of flowers every single day than one expensive piece of jewelry once a year. They are living and beautiful and […] Continue reading →
