After we checked into our Villa in Seminyak and enjoyed a nice swim in our private pool we set off to find the beach for sunset. The walk wound up being a little bit longer then we had anticipated but it was nice to check out the city as we made our way to the beach. When we got to the beach the first thing we noticed was a woman laying down offerings in worship. In Seminyak a lot of the people actually worship on the beach so there were sections of it which where sunbathing was actually […] Continue reading →

We were really sad to leave Ubud since there was so much more that we wanted to do and see, but our time in Bali was limited and we were pretty excited to move onto our next location in Seminyak which would include some beautiful beaches and a private villa. We booked this private villa as a “splurge” for the two nights we were going to be in Seminyak. The rate was still the average price of a hotel in the USA so we figured we had to experience an amazing villa if we had the […] Continue reading →

beads

I think I have posted before about how I love to make jewelry and Ubud was the perfect place for a jewelry designer. There were bead stores everywhere. You could tell that a lot of people come to Bali to import the beads and jewelry so some stores were actually pretty pricey but I wound up finding a few stores that were a bit off of the main road which were absolute steals! I wound up buying two long strands of fresh water pearls for about 7 dollars. Although I definitely bought my fair […] Continue reading →

For all of you fruit lovers out there Bali had some unbelievable fruit. One thing we noticed was that nothing really seemed to be imported into Bali so what ever was in season was what you saw the most of in the markets and restaurants. For example you could not find avocado for the life of you in Indonesia at this time but wait a few month and it will be in season and served in many dishes at most restaurants. Since a huge amount of my diet consists of fruit and smoothies I was in love […] Continue reading →

Balinese Faces

IMG_4038

I found the Balinese people to be so beautiful. From the young to the old these people seemed to tell their entire lives on their faces… How do you define beauty? […] Continue reading →

One of the main things that Ubud is known for is its very large and highly populated…Monkey Forest. Now I am going to come right out and admit that I really really really don’t like monkeys. I think that they are so creepy looking. The babies I guess can be see as being kind of cute, but that is a bit of a stretch. When we first decided to go to Bali I initially said to Mike that there was no way I was ever going to enter into the Monkey Forest. But as the days went by in Ubud […] Continue reading →

After our tour of the temples Mike and I thought that we would just be going back to Ubud but Borjou had other plans for us. He said that there was no way that we could miss seeing the volcano and that we should drive out to see it and have lunch. Since Mike and I were down for anything and definitely wanted to see the volcano we decided to go ahead and make the 40 minute drive to the volcano. On the way Borjou told us that there were a lot of coffee plantations that we could make a [...] […] Continue reading →

On our second full day in Bali Mike and I called up our guide Borjou to take us on a tour of the country side in the center of Bali.I cannot express enough have amazing it was to have a guide in Bali. He took us to so many amazing locations with incredible views that we would have never gone to otherwise. It was also really nice to not have to worry about driving around Bali. I think the best part about having Borjou with us though was the cultural aspect he brought to our trip. Our first […] Continue reading →

File0100

On our first full day in Bali Mike and I went on a six-hour hike through the Campuhan Ridge which brought us through some amazing views of the ridge and the rice fields. It really is amazing how we could simply turn off of the main road in Ubud and all of a sudden we were immersed in the country side with some the most breath-taking views on both sides of us. The hike was actually a lot more challenging than we had anticipated it to be. There were times where we literally felt like we were […] Continue reading →

One of the coolest things about the city of Ubud was the way that the temples were actually built right into the city. We would just be walking down the street and all of a sudden on our right would be an ancient palace. I can’t say that I see that everyday on my commute to work but the people of Bali sure do. Puri Saren Agung, or the Water Palace, was by far the coolest temple that Mike and I saw in the city of Ubud. The city of Ubud was literally built around all sides of this […] Continue reading →
