I’ve been missing this place A LOT lately! Can someone PLEASE transport me back to Bali! I miss the perfect weather, beautiful beaches, friendly people, and the food! The food in Southeast Asia was something complete different from anywhere else I had ever experienced. Filled with coconut, fresh vegetables, curry, spice, mango, and the freshest most wonderful fish you can imagine. Since flying back to Southeast Asia would put me back a couple grand I thought that bringing some of […] Continue reading →

HKG Hong Kong Advertising

I don’t know how I managed this but I completely forgot to write about our night in Hong Kong coming back from Bali. We just did so much on that trip it clearly has taken a while to get everything straightened out. I swear that this really is my last post from that particular trip though! We really didn’t spend too much time in Hong Kong and to be honest I wasn’t even sure it was worth us leaving the airport, but Mike bribed me good with the temptation of getting a new […] Continue reading →

I have written before in my marathon re-cap about the benefits of coconut water in concern to running but after traveling in Indonesia and drinking A TON of coconut water I thought that it would be good to touch upon the benefits of it again. First of all what is coconut water? Coconut water is the clear liquid inside young coconuts. Coconut water has long been a popular drink in Southeast Asia where it is available fresh. Interestingly enough in some third world countries coconut water has […] Continue reading →

This is what Mike and I did on our final night in Bali and it was perfect. Looking back over all of these posts it really is amazing to me how much we accomplished in so little time. If you all have been reading from the very beginning I hope you enjoyed the journey or at least the pictures. Jimbaran was a small fishing village that had restaurants which literally sat in the sand where you could sit and watch the sunset. I have probably never seen a more brilliant sunset than the one we saw […] Continue reading →

Nusa Dua was where we spent our last three days in Bali aside from going over to a fishing village called Jimbaran for a sunset dinner on the beach. While in Nusa Dua we stayed at the only American Hotel we had booked for our trip, the Courtyard Marriott. This hotel really was beautiful and very reasonably priced but of course after coming from a private villa nothing could really compare . What was crazy about Nusa Dua was that it was a complex which had been built specifically for the […] Continue reading →

Uluwatu, Bali

IMG_4365

Uluwatu was our last stop on our tour of the southern part of Bali and it was a great way to end the day before heading off to our hotel in Nusa Dua. Uluwatu is actually a temple which resides on top of these huge cliffs which I thought looked almost identical to the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland, except in Bali the water below is turquoise instead of ice cold. The tour of the temple actually took over an hour or so to complete since you could walk for what seemed like miles along the edges of […] Continue reading →

Sweet black rice pudding recipe

A really interesting dessert/breakfast food that we tried while in Bali was Black Rice Pudding. It was sweet and made with coconut milk which I absolutely loved! This dish really reminded me of oatmeal, so for all of you oatmeal lovers out there, give this a try if you are feeling like switching up your everyday oatmeal routine. Ingredients: 1 cup black rice 1/2 cup sugar 1 (13 1/2- to 15-oz) can unsweetened coconut milk Directions: Bring rice and 3 cups water, and 1/4 teaspoon salt to a […] Continue reading →

Talk about a beautiful beach! We didn’t spend too long in Padang Padang since it was just a stop on our day trip through the southern part of Bali but boy was this beach beautiful. The southern part of the island where Padang Padang and Uluwatu are located is a very non-touristy area that has not been very built up. For the most part this area of the island is where the surfers come to surf on some of the best waves in the entire world. It had a very laid back, surfer atmosphere to […] Continue reading →

After spending a nice final morning in our villa in Seminyak, Mike and I said a tearful goodbye to the nicest place we have ever stayed and headed out with Borjou for a tour of the southern peninsula of the island. When we first got in the car Borjou gave me the great compliment of “O Megan you look a little bit…pinker”. That wasn’t exactly what I was going for Borjou. I think it is so funny how they think we are pink, which I guess we kind of are compared to their […] Continue reading →
