I had such an amazing time this weekend in Burlington Vermont with my sisters and Mike, it was really nice to get away from Boston for a little bit and I have plenty to catch you guys up on, but for right now I wanted to tell you about this absolutely amazing cake that my mom made for my birthday last night once we got back from Vermont. In our family we have a tradition that the person whose birthday it is gets to pick their favorite meal and cake/dessert for dinner. Since we were heading […] Continue reading →

organic

While all of us I am sure would love to be able to buy absolutely everything organic and from the local farmers, for the majority of the population that just isn’t possible. For some people the cost of trying to feed a family on all organic foods is too expensive, or you may just not have great access to farmers markets or a grocery store that has good organic options. I understand that some people feel very strongly that you should be investing in the food you put in your bodies and […] Continue reading →

Today is my 24th birthday and thanks to my lovely family it is off to a wonderful start. Mike and I are going to be heading up north to visit my sisters for the weekend so this post is going to have to be a short and sweet picture re-cap of the morning since I still have a little bit of packing to do. My thoughtful boyfriend woke me up with a huge bouquet of tulips And one of these delicious bad boys Did a quick morning yoga workout on my brand new mat that I am in LOVE with! [...] […] Continue reading →

The other day at the super market I saw a bunch of mini-watermelons on sale and hoped for the best when buying one that it would turn out to be delicious. I really love watermelon and just couldn’t help myself! It really is such a risk buying watermelon at this time of the year though, and there is nothing worse than a seriously mealy watermelon. YUCK! But I took my chances. Unfortunately when I went to chop up my watermelon today it was so mealy and spongy that I almost gagged on the […] Continue reading →

tea

My stomach is feeling pretty upset today. For the past few weeks it has actually been kind of up and down, probably because I haven’t been paying as close of attention as I should to the amount of fat and sugar I have been consuming. While I am very good at always staying away from dairy and wheat, my stomach issues with sugar and fat tend to be a little more challenging since I can have a little but not a lot. It is a big balancing act most of the time that lately I haven’t […] Continue reading →

nars

I’m sure everyone is now aware of this wicked big nail art trend, it has been kind of hard to miss. Nail art has been taking off like crazy and it seems like the possibilities are endless! While I am not necessarily the best nail painter myself I can really appreciate how creative some people have been getting in the fashion world with this new trend. Here are some of my most impressive findings, maybe one day I will be able to master one of these looks… 20s Inspired Nails via […] Continue reading →

triceps

Today I really wanted to get in a good strength training workout during the day so that Mike and I could go for a nice run down by the beach after work. This usually takes some good planning so I ate an early lunch and used my lunch hour to run up to a nearby gym and complete a killer 45 minute strength training workout that looked something like this: Legs: Leg extensions: 3 sets of 12 reps Wide Stance Barbell Squat: 3 sets of 12 reps Walking Barbell Lunge: 3 sets of 12 reps Lying Leg […] Continue reading →

Birthday Week

birthdayquote

Does anyone else believe in Birthday Weeks? Not just a Birthday but a Birthweek. A week that is entirely dedicated to doing everything and anything that you want simply because your birthday happens to fall sometime between Monday-Sunday. While I am not one of those people who feels like everyone needs to drop everything just because its my birthday, I do feel like I deserve to give myself a few guilt free extras like: some new clothes, a manicure, a starbucks soy cinnamon dolce cappuccino […] Continue reading →

just do it

Life has been a little bit crazy the past two weeks and I unfortunately have to admit that I haven’t been getting in as many workouts as I should be. However, all of that is going to change this week as I kick my butt back into a steady routine. It is amazing to me how addicted to exercise I can get when I am in a solid workout routine, however if I ever fall of the bandwagon it can sometimes seem impossible to really get back into a good workout flow. With the hot weather and beach […] Continue reading →

scorpion

Guess what I mastered this weekend?!? It took a few tries, and I have some pretty nasty rug burns on my elbows, but once I did it, it was kind of like I couldn’t have imagined not being able to do it before. This scorpion pose is honestly one that now I feel like I could kind of just hang out in. So for all of you out there that have been too nervous to give it a try, just go for it! Not to mention you feel pretty cool being able to bust this bad boy out. […] Continue reading →
